Resveratrol Food Supplement – The Acid Enhanced Alternative







In life, there is always a benefit in leveraging of resources. This simply means that the effort from one point can be enhanced or augmented by an additional source. This is the case too for medicines or other health benefiting molecules.

One of this most recent discoveries of a product that improves the health of an individual is the resveratrol. This is a chemical substance that is produced by plants such as grape tree. They are the equivalent of white blood cells in humans because they are produced as a defense line. They prevent the fungi and bacteria from attacking the plants in the parts that the bark has been broken.

It is does this through the oxidative characteristic that is has. By this, we mean that the resveratrol has the ability to take up another hydrogen atom. In chemistry, this process is also achieved through gaining of more electrons or oxygen atom. This ability can however be limited to the number of free hydrogen in the active molecule. This is because resveratrol has a polyphenol structure that has limited number of carbon and hydrogen bonds.

The oxidative capacity of this food supplement can be enhanced by introducing a product with more free hydrogen bonds. The use of alpha lipoic acid is now being propagated as an enhancer of the oxidative function. This is an unsaturated fatty acid with a long carbon chain and several hydroxide positions. These are essentially some free or unbound hydrogen sites that will allow for binding of additional molecules.

Alpha lipoic acid works in the same manner as the Vitamin C or Vitamin E. These vitamins share similar structures as the lipoic acids. They have long unsaturated fatty acid structure that have a high capacity to accept additional ions. The free radicals which are often accused of inhibiting metabolic reactions such as the krebs cycle will therefore be arrested.

By introducing another antioxidant, the capacity of this plant polyphenol is greatly enhanced. This combination is therefore recommended for management of chronic conditions such as Alzheimer disease, reducing rheumatic pain associated with old age, slowing down aging processes, management of stroke, and improving brain functions. All these conditions are usually made worse in the presence of free radicals.

The combination of the two molecules has several other benefits. These include reduced dosage and reduced cost. The main challenge is that the effects of this molecules on pregnant women or those with liver malfunctions is not well understood. You are encouraged to seek more advice from your doctor.
