Resveratrol side effects are a topic of some discussion as this naturally produced chemical has been incorporated into a number of comprehensive dietary supplements. As with any supplement, vitamin or medication, possible complications are a legitimate cause for concern, but the more you can learn about Resveratrol the more you’ll be able to ease your mind.

Resveratrol is a plant chemical found in red grapes and grape seeds and the products made from them, including juice and red wine. Resveratrol has been shown to have anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and cholesterol lowering properties, making it an important addition to any health regimen. With its range of helpful properties it is known to do everything from preventing heart disease and some cancers to lowering cholesterol levels and even slowing the progress of Alzheimer’s Disease.

While the inclusion of a comprehensive daily supplement including Resveratrol in your regular routine can be very beneficial, Resveratrol side effects do exist and it is important that you be aware of any potential risks. On the plus side, direct adverse reactions to Resveratrol have yet to be reported, but there are some specific areas of caution which should be heeded.

Since Resveratrol has some estrogen related properties, women with estrogen sensitive conditions should consult a doctor before taking it. Also, Resveratrol can act as a blood thinner, so anyone taking blood thinning medications is strongly urged to consult a doctor before beginning to take a supplement which contains Resveratrol. As with any supplement or medication, nursing or pregnant women and anyone taking prescription medications should also use caution when taking Resveratrol.

While Resveratrol side effects are relatively limited, the benefits of this natural substance have been shown to be wide spread, affecting everything from circulation and joint function to respiratory health. Resveratrol is particularly effective when used in combination with other natural substances as part of a comprehensive dietary supplement.

When combined with the effects of other minerals, amino acids, enzymes and anti-oxidants, Resveratrol can be part of a long term regimen to combat the signs of aging. Dietary supplements containing natural substances such as these can help to bolster the body’s natural defenses and even reverse damage caused by environmental irritants.

As part of a healthy lifestyle which includes a balanced diet, proper exercise and adequate hydration, a daily natural supplement can be your best weapon in the fight against aging. Not only can natural supplements leave you feeling energized and strong, they can help to reverse the effects of aging on everything from your internal systems to your skin and hair. Despite possible Resveratrol side effects, this can be the most important step you’ll ever take in terms of your overall health.

You should never put anything into your body that you don’t trust, but studies show there is no reason not to trust Resveratrol and other natural substances. Just take the time to research and make sure you are using the best possible product for you and you’ll be looking and feeling better in no time!

If you have been considering taking resveratrol then you are surely interested in learning whether there are any known resveratrol side effects.

Well, the truth is that while long-term side effects in humans are not yet known, many positive side effects have been reported by both scientists and resveratrol users.

However, there are some points to keep in mind:

1) Since the compound does have mild estrogenic activity that has not yet been evaluated in humans, it is recommended that women with estrogen-sensitive conditions, including some cancers, should consult with their health practitioner before taking it to avoid any possible side effects.

2) Researchers recommend that supplementation should be avoided by children and women who are pregnant, nursing, or trying to conceive.

3) Because the compound acts as a blood thinner (one of the reasons it has been noted as heart-healthy), it is suggested that people already on blood thinning medication avoid taking it unless recommended by their doctor, in order to avoid any adverse resveratrol side effects.

The same goes for others that are using prescription drugs – always consult with your doctor first.

Other resveratrol side effects which have been reported by people taking large doses (500 – 1000 mg) included diarrhea, abnormal blood tests, over thinning of the blood, headaches, and anxiety.

Current recommendations to avoid these resveratrol side effects are to start moderate (20 – 50 mg doses) and increase gradually, staying below the 500 mg dose, and taking into consideration your own body size and current health status.

Even with the above considerations, the vast majority of people taking it for some years now, have not reported any major resveratrol side effects (i.e. non-reversible).

Rather, the positive side effects are becoming widely known and discussed. Users often report that the resveratrol side effects they experience range from higher and more prolonged energy and endurance, greater mental clarity, and better sleeping habits.

Now, having said all the above, I want you to consider two other issues:

First, instead of taking supplements containing just resveratrol, it is better to take multi-nutrient supplements, which contain additional health enhancing ingredients.

The additional ingredients will add even more power, and all of the naturally selected compounds will work together synergistically to produce great results.

Just consider that when you combine the compound with other healthy ingredients you will be able to tackle all of the causes of aging.

Without going into any more detail, I would like to mention that, according to the latest research, aging actually has five different causes, free radicals being only one of them.

The other known causes are glycation, methlylation, inflammation and DNA degeneration.

Supplements that contain resveratrol in addition to other antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and amino acids will be able to combat all of these five causes of aging, leaving you healthier and younger than ever before.

The second thing I want to tell you is that the effective quantity of the compound you receive from some low quality, cheap supplements is not as much as you are led to believe.

This is because resveratrol has a very low bioavailability.

In simple terms, what this means is that, as the supplement travels through your stomach, the acids there dissolve much of its content, thus leaving little of the useful compound to be absorbed into your bloodstream.

The best way to ensure that you do get the most of the compound is to buy multi-nutrient supplements, which have enteric coating. This special kind of coating is made up of material which withstands the harsh acidic environment of the stomach and dissolves in the upper intestine. In this way, all the nutrients are not destroyed, safely delivered to the bloodstream.

Why do most of the manufacturers bypass this crucial step of protecting the contents of the supplements? Well, the answer is simple: Because this process is expensive and as we all know, manufacturers want to keep their prices down to be more competitive, if they can get away with it.

There are manufacturers, however, who use this enteric coating technology, while managing to keep their cost base down.

My advice is this: To avoid any unpleasant resveratrol side effects, consult with your doctor first. When he or she gives you the green light, then get the compound into your body through high quality multi-nutrient supplements that are protected with enteric coating.

There are many claims that Resveratrol can assist the body to overcome cancer, but many people are still wary of such claims. After all hasn’t science been searching for the all-important cure since research began into this fatal illness? One would certainly hope so! To discover that a potential cure may exist in every bottle of red wine has understandably raised hopes – and more than a few skeptical eyebrows. However, there is now vast evidence supporting these claims.

Cancer growth in the human body takes place in 3 stages: initial manifestation; promotion; and eventual propagation. It has been found that resveratrol interupts all 3 stages. Scientists now agree that practically every mechanism of tumor growth and progression is inhibited by resveratrol.

Resveratrol prevents cellular abnormlaities
There are an impressively high number of ways that resveratrol acts towards fighting cancer. Most cancers are caused and are propagated by genetic abnormalities in affected cells. Since resveratrol assists DNA in accurately producing healthy cells, even from damaged ones, this explains why resveratrol can inhibit the promotion of cancer. Another welcome side-effect of this process is looking and feeling younger, as genetic cell abnormalities do not persist.

Resveratrol boosts energy
Resveratrol acts at the cellular level to promote healthy functioning of the mitochondria. These important little organelles are involved in cell regulation and coordination, but they also produce chemical energy. A boost in energy levels, as reported by many resveratrol users, is often beneficial in fighting cancer and also dealing with many of the harsh medical treatments of cancer, such as chemo.

Resveratrol reduces the risk of cancer by improving cell operation
As previously mentioned, the mitochondria are involved in many of the inter-communications within the bodies cells. This process is called cell signalling. It is know that poor cell signalling can often cause cancer, hence, by improving the operation of mitochondria, resveratrol can thus help the body to remain cancer-free.

Resveratrol lowers superoxide levels
It also significantly increases the bodies MnSOD which reduces “superoxide”. Superoxide can result in mitochondrial instability and can trigger free radical chain reactions, which in turn, can lead to cancer.

Cancer cells die prematurely
Cancer metastasis is the means by which cancer spreads to other regions and organs via the blood and lymph. Resveratrol promotes cell destruction in malignant cells, while nurturing healthy ones. Thus cancerous cells are induced to die prematurely, limiting their impact on the body, and preventing cancer propagation by metastasis.

Resveratrol is an anti-oxidant polyphenol
Furthermore, like it’s sister nutrient the well-known Acai Berry, resveratrol is a polyphenol. This results in the rich coloring of these popular compounds. But it also means that they behave as anti-oxidants, cleansing the body of many toxins and neutralizing cancer-causing free radicals.

Resveratrol results in the lab
There have been countless scientific tests showing the beneficial effects of resveratrol on cancers and cancer tumor. In studies on mice, resveratrol administered orally was found to counteract skin cancer and tumor growth. In human cells tests, resveratrol was found to have inhibiting effects on many types of cancer: breast, skin, gastric, colon, esophageal, prostate and pancreatic cancer cells and leukemia. The best results have been obtained when resveratrol was applied directly to the surface of the affected cells in a laboratory environment. But are these resveratrol cancer benefits confined to the laboratory or can we expect the same results in orally-taken resveratrol supplements?

Can Resveratrol Supplements prevent cancer?
When considering resveratrol and cancer, it is too early to know whether supplements can produce the same results and actually cure cancer in humans. However there are some strong indications that these supplements are working well. There are many reports of people experiencing health benefits such as looking and feeling younger, weight loss, and increases in energy. Although prevention of cancer is a less quantifiable effect, these resveratrol supplements seemingly produce some astonishing results – preventing cancer may just be one of them.

Some evidence of the use of oral resveratrol in preventing cancer
Although it may take to prove, resveratrol cancer benefits have already been observed in diverse places such as France, Sardinia and Okinawa – where the risk of contracting the disease is far less than if you live in the United States. Since the inhabitants of these regions get their daily resveratrol fix orally – usually via red wine, or in the case of the Japanese via knotweed – this would appear to be a more than effective way of taking resveratrol. Thus, it seems rational that resveratrol pills may help prevent this fatal illness.

It is believed to reduce the risk of breast, stomach, colon, pancreatic, thyroid and even prostate cancer.

As per the recent studies, it has been established that resveratrol prevents certain enzymes which promote the excretion of potentially harmful toxic and carcinogenic chemicals.

It has invincible anti mutagen properties which destroy the growth of cancerous cells – abnormal and self duplicating cells. It also protects the body against free radical damage and prevents other detrimental reactions taking place within the body.

Apart from providing an excellent protection against cancer and many other ailments, it also enhances the overall health of the immune system.

In essence, the studies on resveratrol and prostate cancer have established how beneficial this natural substance is. Taking the specified dosage of this wonderful substance can bless you with a healthy and a longer life.

So, why not try the natural multi vitamins supplements which are rich in this and other like medicinal substance.

A Resveratrol review can be a helpful guide for individuals who are considering adding this natural anti-oxidant to their regular health regimen. As more and more becomes known about Resveratrol it is useful to learn what the experts have to say before deciding on the right course for you.

Resveratrol is a natural plant chemical found primarily in the seeds and skins of red grapes as well as in peanuts. It is found in its most concentrated form in red wine and red grape juice. Resveratrol reviews suggest that one 4 oz. glass of red wine with dinner can provide a healthy amount for the average adult.

Obviously red wine isn’t an ideal option for everyone, but it is now also possible to find Resveratrol in pill form. A Resveratrol review can help you to distinguish between the various available options but in most cases the benefits of Resveratrol are optimized when it is included in a natural dietary supplement along with a special blend of other plant based substances.

Resveratrol reviews have shown that it is rich in ant-oxidant and other helpful properties. Like any anti-oxidant, it helps to remove toxins from your body which can build up as the result of daily exposure to environmental irritants. Resveratrol can also help the body in other ways, including reducing inflammation and preventing cell mutation which lead to the development of cancers.

The benefits of Resveratrol are enhanced when it is combined with vitamins, minerals, enzymes, herbal extracts and other natural compounds. By working together, these substances can combat a range of problems, from wrinkled skin to impaired circulation and everything in between. A Resveratrol review can help to determine not only its effectiveness for your body, but it’s compatibility with other natural substances and the form in which they will have the most benefit for you.

Of course, any supplement is only going to be effective if it is incorporated into a regular daily routine which promotes overall health. Proper exercise and a balanced diet, rich in vegetables, proteins, fruits and other nutrients must be the first step in any health plan. Resveratrol reviews show that its effectiveness is improved when used as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Comprehensive natural supplements, when used properly, have been shown to produce a wide range of effects from alleviating the symptoms of depression to increasing energy to reducing the signs of aging by improving skin tone. A Resveratrol review shows that this can be the single most important advance in terms of slowing your bodys aging process.

We all want to turn back the hands of time and research suggests that using a comprehensive natural supplement which includes Resveratrol may be the key to doing so. So don’t take chances when it comes to your health. Do your research and find a supplement which will work for you and the news can be good for your health too!

BM asked:

If you are reading this article chances are you are probably wondering what resveratrol side effects are. Resveratrol is found in many different plants, including peanuts and Japanese Knotweed and dark skinned fruits such as pomegranates, blueberries, and cranberries. Resveratrol is also found in grapes, fueling many articles on the health benefits of red wine. To be sure, if you over imbibe red wine, you will have side effects, though not from an overdose of resveratrol. To get the amount of resveratrol into your body that is normally used in studies, you would have to drink several bottles daily. While long-term side effects of resveratrol supplementation in humans are not yet known, many positive side effects have been reported by both scientists and resveratrol users. However, there are some points to keep in mind.

First, it is important to know that resveratrol does have mild estrogenic activity that has not yet been evaluated in humans, so until more is known it is recommended that woman with estrogen-sensitive conditions, including some cancers, consult with their health practitioner before taking resveratrol supplements to avoid any possible side effects. It is also recommended that resveratrol supplementation be avoided by children and women who are pregnant, nursing, or trying to conceive, to avoid possible anti-growth side effects. Also, because resveratrol does act as a blood thinner (one of the reasons it has been noted as heart-healthy), it is suggested that people already on blood thinning medication avoid resveratrol supplementation unless recommended by their doctor, in order to avoid any adverse side effects. The same goes for others that are using prescription drugs – always consult with your doctor first.

Negative side effects have been noted in volunteer participants taking mega doses (500 – 1000 mg) of resveratrol. While these side effects were reversible, they are worth considering. The side effects experienced included diarrhea, abnormal blood tests, over thinning of the blood, headaches, and anxiety. Current recommendations to avoid these side effects are to start moderate (20 – 50 mg doses) and increase gradually, staying below the 500 mg dose, and taking into consideration your own body size and current health status.

Michael Jenkins asked:

Resveratrol is a natural product that is found in a number of substances, including the grapes used to make red wine. This product has a lot of hype surrounding it and has done for several years now. This doesn’t really come as any surprise for the fact the product has been associated with a number of health benefits for a while now such as weight loss, anti-aging and the prevention of disease such as cancers. Many if not most of the benefits associated with resveratrol have been looked into at Harvard university in the UK, with a lot of interest and study coming from Dr. David Sinclair.

The interest in the studies that Dr. Sinclair and other Dr’s carried out at Harvard University quickly became immense as the substance resveratrol proved to be a key substitute in the hope of finding a cure for type 2 diabetes. One company in particular picked up on this, Glaxo, known fully as GlaxoSmithKline plc. They are a UK based pharmaceutical, biological and healthcare company who are responsible for Alli; the first clinically proven over the counter weight loss aid that is now available in pharmacies across Europe. It was Glaxo who went on to purchase the resveratrol studies undertaken at Harvard, which included a company known as Sirtris, which Dr. Sinclair was the co-founder of. Glaxo agreed this at a price of roughly 770 million.

Sirtris was in the process of undergoing trials of using resveratrol in drugs designed to expand the human lifespan. They also had a drug in clinical trials that was being tested against type 2 diabetes, which is what sparked Glaxo’s interest in the research being carried out at Harvard in the first place.

Diabetes is one of the many diseases that is associated with aging that the company wants to prevent. They believe that such an impact on health would be a breakthrough and open the door to other cures. It certainly would be a breakthrough considering diabetes is a potentially fatal disease; in fact studies showed that over 100 people a day die from the disease.

The purchase of Harvard studies as well as the company Sirtris was welcomed by both parties. The reason being is Sirtris was focused on developing drugs that activate what are known as sirtuins, which are a class of enzymes to do with aging. So where does resveratrol fit into this? Well the most advanced compounds of these enzymes is the formulation of resveratrol. Resveratrol is known and highly sought after due to its high number of antioxidants, which are one of the reasons why it is important to the work of tackling disease such as diabetes.

By Glaxo purchasing the study associated with resveratrol it has opened them up to a new area of research that otherwise may not have been funded. The substance plays such an important part in our future for the fact it has the potential to aid in the fight of not only diabetes but also muscle wasting and neurodegeneration. This is certainly not the last we are going to be seeing and hearing of resveratrol, in fact it could be the beginning of a new chapter in the medical books.

resveratrol study

Gen Wright asked:

ow about the French paradox? This is one of the most intriguing phenomena in the health world. The French and the Scottish diets are very high in fats. However, while a large percentage of Scottish people suffer from heart related problems, the incidence of heart diseases is the lowest in French people. Researchers and scientists have tried to understand the secret behind this phenomenon and come up with a unanimous answer. The French people love drinking red wine which has an abundance of a compound called resveratrol. Resveratrol has some great properties which help in causing a significant reduction in heart problems, premature aging and coronary heart disease. In fact apart from red wine resveratrol is also present in foods like cranberries, mulberries and peanuts.

The food that we eat is generally highly processed and has a high concentration of saturated fatty acids, sodium and other harmful nutrients. Though we have made great technological advancements in the recent times, the quality of the kind of food we eat has really gone down. This has led to an increase in the increase of the LDL or the bad cholesterol and decrease in HDL or good cholesterol. Compounds like resveratrol which are present in grapes, berries, peanuts and red wine help in reducing the LDL or the bad cholesterol and increasing the amount of HDL or the good cholesterol.

Natural antioxidants help in controlling the amount of free radicals present in our body. When left to their own devices, these free radicals can cause cells to age and multiply uncontrollably and hence cause cancer, diabetes and other degenerative diseases. Resveratrol helps in enhancing the cardiovascular health.

Prevention is always better than cure. When there is a disease caused in the body, then the complete system goes for a toss. Hence, it’s better to prevent a problem rather than trying to cure it. Nutrients like resveratrol help in preventing cellular degeneration and consequently diseases like cancer and other problems.

Hence, resveratrol is quite helpful in preventing all these health problems. However, there are many people who may argue that they don’t like drinking red wine due to a variety of reasons. Some may even say that since they are not used to drinking, they don’t like the hangover caused by the wine the next day. So, how do people get the benefits of resveratrol without drinking wine? The first option is that resveratrol is also present in foods like peanuts and cranberries. You can also get resveratrol from foods like peanuts, cranberries and other kinds of berries.

Though the modern day lifestyle has made our lives comfortable, it has also caused many health problems. Processed foods and lack of optimum exercise has resulted in heart attacks and cancers in kids and young people. Hence, it’s important to take substances like resveratrol to prevent such problems like premature aging and free radical built up in the body. Hence a regular intake of this compound can help in enhancing the immune system, lowering blood pressure and preventing plaque formation in the arteries.

Valerie Rosenbaum asked:

When it comes to the search for a cancer cure resveratrol is one of the many natural compounds that are being studied. Researchers have found that it interferes with all three states of carcinogenesis, from initiation to the progression of the disease.

But, these studies have only been conducted using cell lines. Scientists have found many things that are effective against cancer cell lines, even vitamin C, but when they conduct human trials, they find them to be ineffective. There is no clear understanding of why this is the case.

In addition to being studied as a cancer cure resveratrol is also being studied for its cancer-preventative benefits. Many natural health experts believe that you can greatly reduce your risk of cancer by improving your nutritional intake and regularly using supplements that contain natural plant extracts with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.

They also believe that it is possible to live well past 100, without developing chronic or life threatening diseases. Again, they believe that the key is optimal nutritional intake. A totally balanced supplement would provide all of the essential vitamins and minerals, derived from natural sources.

Here’s an interesting fact, most of the supplements that you see on the market contain synthetic vitamins. When it comes to vitamins C and E, hardly any company uses the natural form. Even foods are fortified with synthetic or artificial vitamins. Why would anyone believe that these things would be good for us?

We know that artificial preservatives, colors and flavorings cause numerous health problems and many of them increase our cancer risk. Artificial vitamins are not the same on an atomic or quantum level as the natural form. Scientists can only recreate the molecule. The molecules look the same, but no one ever tested them to see if they have the same activity. To this day, no one has test artificial vitamins against natural ones.

If it is developed as a cancer cure resveratrol will likely be synthesized. They already know how to make the molecule. They just need a reason to do so. The natural version is not cheap, but it is readily available. Manufacturers choose to use synthetics because they are cheaper than the natural versions and usually they are more readily available.

If the synthetic version proves to be ineffective in treating cancers, scientists will not go back and reconsider their choice. They will not conduct additional studies to determine if the natural form is more effective.

Judging by the scientific policies that have been a part of the past, there is unlike to be a cancer cure resveratrol based product in the future. If you are well, the best thing that you can do is focus on prevention by taking an excellent nutritional supplement that includes natural trans-resveratrol in a 50% concentration.

If you are sick, the best thing that you can do is consult with a doctor of naturopathic medicine. I know people personally that are cancer-free after consulting with a naturopathic MD and following his or her advice. They may not offer a cancer cure resveratrol treatment, but they do have other options.
